PADA is particularly concerned with treating families as a whole and has established a mobile dental clinic program for low-income, uninsured and underserved families in Santa Ana, CA. The increasing cutbacks within Denti-Cal and other government programs have left children and adults without access to dental care. The city of Santa Ana has been targeted due to the high rates of poverty, low-paying jobs, un-insurance, and high proportion of residents with low educational attainment and limited English skills.
The mobile clinic attends large community events in the Orange County area, where screenings and preventative care are performed. Aftercare visits are scheduled at nearby locations, such as a church or community center, and only for those who are given appointments from the previous community event are seen. These follow-up visits are solely for restorative work. Oral hygiene instruction is also a large component of our mobile dental clinic. Knowledge is power.
